Whole Foods Market is set to launch a new store in Virginia come August.

Whole Foods Opens Spacious New Store in Reston, Virginia

Whole Foods Market is bringing a new shopping experience to Reston, Virginia, with the opening of a larger store at 1861 Fountain Drive. The new store, which replaces the existing location at 11660 Plaza America Drive, spans over 46,711 sq. ft.—nearly double the size of the previous store.

The expanded space boasts several unique features, including an enlarged prepared food department, a full-service coffee bar, a bakery, and a Whole Body department. The store also offers a specialty cheese department staffed by trained cheesemongers, a full-service sustainable seafood counter, and a meat counter with butchers ready to prepare custom cuts using local options.

The new store's curated grocery section showcases exclusive and local products, with over 220 craft beers and 530 wines, including local brands. Customers can also enjoy hot foods, sushi, pizza, and made-to-order sandwiches.

Whole Foods remains committed to sustainability and quality standards, with all food meeting rigorous quality standards that ban hydrogenated fats, high-fructose corn syrup, and over 300 unwanted ingredients. The store sources from more than nine local farms and stocks over 400 locally sourced products from Virginia, Maryland, and DC. It also prioritizes sustainable seafood and responsibly farmed meat.

Beauty products in the store avoid harmful substances like phthalates and parabens.

On opening day, customers were greeted with complimentary coffee and bites from local vendors, Cafe Kreyol, and Whisked by Jenna. The first 300 customers in line received custom tote bags and special discount coupons with offers up to $100 off.

The store supports the community through donations to Northern Virginia Food Rescue and local nonprofits Cornerstones and Anna Sudha Community Kitchens.

Further integration between Whole Foods and Amazon, its parent company, is reportedly in the works. Amazon is currently No. 2 on The PG 100, Progressive Grocer's 2025 list of the top food and consumables retailers in North America.

Whole Foods has also opened a smaller-format market in Hell's Kitchen, NYC, marking its 3rd outpost in the city. The new store features a specialty department dedicated to local cheesemakers and artisan producers.

Regular hours for the new Reston store will be 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. daily.
