Weekend Celebrations Kick Off in Ohligs, Solingen: Sundays 2025 Launch
Solingen, a city known for its rich history and vibrant culture, has announced an exciting lineup of events for the year 2025.
Kicking off the season is the Spring Awakening, scheduled for April 6. This event promises a varied framework program filled with cultural offerings for the whole family. A book market will be offered from 11 am to 6 pm, primarily supplied by regional antiquarians. The international youth exchange center InterJu and OTV ("Fit for Spring") will also participate in the activities.
The first Sunday shopping day of the year, also part of the Spring Awakening, will see special opening hours at Woolworth and possibly other stores, following local permissions. The exact dates for the remaining Sunday shopping days in 2025 are yet to be decided by the City of Solingen's Council.
The Ohligser Trade and Interest Association (OWG), a union of independent retailers, business owners, and committed citizens, plays a significant role in organising local events. Established in 1965, the OWG has been dedicated to the development of the district since then.
One such event is the Ohligser Sunday shopping days, a fixed part of local festivals for many years. The framework program for these days includes a children's carousel, food stands, street performers, activities by associations, and an interactive art market with the motto "Art connects and networks."
The Bridge Festival "Ohligs Connects" is another colorful event that brings together generations and cultures in Ohligs. Originally launched in 1997, this event offers fashion, books, music, and other activities, welcoming everyone to participate and experience the diversity. The Bridge Festival is set to take place on October 26, 2025.
Last but not least, the Ohligser Christmas Market offers treats and handmade gifts from local associations and private craftspeople. A stage with live music and program points, as well as stands by showmen and caterers, is included in this festive celebration. The dates for the Christmas Market are December 5-7, 2025.
