Used items selling for higher prices due to inflation and thrift culture resurgence.

As of September 1, 2024, the formerly struggling second-hand store in Wichlinghauser 98 Street has undergone a transformation, rebranding as "FAMOS! Family Store" under the non-profit organization "FAMOS!" gGmbH. Previously, the Kinderschutzbund was forced to close the store due to financial difficulties. However, the recent increase in customer traffic has alleviated these concerns, as the store is now able to sustain itself, according to the store's manager, Sabine Wirths.

Wirths emphasized that although the store's financial situation has improved, they still require more customers to generate additional income, which will further support various projects at the 'FAMOS! Family House'. The Family House, located at Wichlinghauser Street 38, provides assistance to families in Oberbarmen and Wichlinghausen, welcoming individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

"FAMOS!" offers more than just a second-hand shopping experience. Worths stated, "It is an offer for low-income families, as well as for those who seek sustainable shopping and a chance to support social projects." Proceeds from sales support the store's operations, while any excess profits are used to fund projects run by the 'FAMOS! Family House'.

Individuals looking to support "FAMOS! Family Store" projects have various options. They can donate gently used or new clothing, handbags, shoes, and similar items, which can be sold or distributed to benefit families in need. People can also attend or organize fundraising events, volunteer their time and skills, or spread awareness about the store's ongoing efforts on social media or within their networks.

Currently, the store has an urgent need for child car seats, and they are accepting donations during opening hours at Wichlinghauser Street 98. Those who wish to directly aid disadvantaged families can do so by purchasing a "FAMOS! Euro" voucher at the store, as the proceeds will be used to facilitate assistance within the community.

At Wichlinghauser Street 98, the renovated "FAMOS! Family Store" promotes a combination of lifestyle, home-and-garden, deals-and-discounts shopping, while providing essential support to the 'FAMOS! Family House' on Wichlinghauser Street 38. This non-profit establishment offers aid to families in Oberbarmen and Wichlinghausen, catering to diverse backgrounds and cultures, and now invites additional shoppers to contribute towards further projects, such as the procurement of child car seats.
