Celebrating the Legacy of Kazakh Poet Kadyr Myrzaliyev
A tribute to Kadyr Myrzaliyev, a renowned Kazakh poet, was held in Kapshagay, Almaty region. The event was graced by his relatives, admirers of his work, and notable figures in Kazakhstan, according to Almaty.tv.
Kadyr Myrzaliyev, an author of numerous poetry collections, literary-critical, and children's books, has inspired many with his evocative words. His literature has been translated into multiple languages worldwide. This year would have marked Kadyr Myrzaliyev's 85th birthday.
A sculpture honoring the national poet Kadyr Myrzaliyev stands by the banks of the Kapshagay Reservoir. Crafted from bronze and granite, the bust bears the inscription, “Eñ aldymen - El qamı,” which translates to “First and foremost - care for the people.”
Timur Ermuhambetov, the sculptor responsible for the bust, described it as an embodiment of Kadyr Myrzaliyev's essence, capturing his personality and spirit. According to him, the sculpture depicts a man of the people, a poet, who proudly recites his verses.
The bust's unveiling was attended by Kadyr Myrzaliyev's family, friends, and colleagues, who praised the sculptors for their accurate representation of the poet. Saltanat Myrzaliyeva, the writer's wife, expressed her pleasure with the finished sculpture, saying it looked exactly like her husband in real life.
Throughout his career, Kadyr Myrzaliyev authored over 50 poetry collections and co-authored Kazakhstan’s first anthem. More than 200 of his poems have been adapted into musical pieces, with many still popular today. The poet passed away in 2011 at the age of 76.
Following the event, the Director of the public fund “Kadyr Myrzaly,” Donedil Kajemov, suggested expanding the library near the monument, inviting writers to contribute. He believes that the spot not only offers a chance to relax and swim but also to enrich one's spirit.
A mini-library was set up nearby the monument, where visitors can explore and enjoy the works of the great poet for free. Plans are being made to expand the book selection, hoping the spot becomes a tourist attraction and inspires local youth.

Kadyr Myrzaliyev was born in 1935 in the Zhambyl Region of Kazakhstan, educated at the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute in Moscow during the 1960s, and emerged as a poet during the post-WWII “Thaw” period.
