Community Event: Warm Meals Served at Villa Johannes for Substance Abuse Patients
Yesterday, a heartwarming community event took place at Villa Johannes in Ingolstadt, a center for people struggling with chronic substance abuse issues. The event was organized by Schanzer Kindl e.V., a local association known for their volunteer work, partnering with numerous dedicated helpers.
The defining moment of the day involved the preparation and serving of 100 portions of a traditional meal. With 32 kg of pork roast, around 200 dumplings, and 20 kg of red cabbage, the team cooked up a remarkable feast in the kitchen of Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. The generous donation of ingredients was made by Edeka Suedbayern Gaimersheim. The result? Steaming plates of food and countless beaming faces.
Michael Buhmelter, organizer of Schanzer Kindl e.V., was just one of the many committed individuals who contributed to the success of the event. Other participants included Stefan Zach from FunArena, Markus Steinich, a fleischsommelier from Edeka, Simone Reisz, Carmen Smith, Sven Mueller, Gerd Feuchter, and Fritz Finkel - a dedicated photographer from Schanzer Kindl e.V. This team worked together seamlessly, speaking little but achieving much.

Silvia Kopp, the mediator and director of Villa Johannes, and Kerstin Steinhart from Caritas were deeply moved by the event. "What transpired here today is challenging to put into words," Kopp said. "It was simply wonderful."
The underlying message of the day was clear: the power of doing good. It touches deeply, honestly, and sustainably.
