Twenty-seven years of emergency medical services commemorated in Pforzheim and the Enzkreis region

In the heart of Pforzheim, the Reuchlinhaus played host to a special event last Friday, marking the 27th anniversary of emergency foster care in the city and the Enzkreis region. The evening was filled with insightful lectures, heartfelt speeches, and celebratory moments, all aimed at highlighting the importance of this crucial service.

Professor Dr. Klaus Wolf, a retired educational science professor with a focus on foster child care, captivated the audience with his enlightening lecture. He emphasised the indispensable role emergency foster care plays in society, providing a vital safety net for children and youth who, due to urgent situations, cannot remain with their families.

Mayor Frank Fillbrunn, in his welcome speech, expressed gratitude for the valuable work of the emergency foster families. He stated that the absence of these families would indeed create a big problem, as in their absence, even the smallest children would have to be placed in home institutions. He also warned political decision-makers that cutting costs in foster child care would lead to increased expenses in the long run.

Susanne Wendlberger, from the youth office Enzkreis, and Eva Walsleben, from the city of Pforzheim, looked back at the past years and the significant impact emergency foster care has had on the lives of countless children. They emphasised the ongoing need for more foster families, as the city and the youth office continue their efforts to provide care and support for those in need.

The event was attended by many people, including current and former emergency foster families, members of the youth welfare committees, and employees from both youth offices. The families were honoured with the presentation of gourmet baskets from the Enzkreis.

The evening's festivities concluded with music, food, and lively exchange in the foyer. The band ZWO with Yvonne Ehringer and Dieter Westerteicher provided the perfect soundtrack for the celebrations.

Dr. Wolf emphasised the need for good framework conditions with sufficient personnel and financial equipment for effective work with foster families. As we move forward, it is clear that the work of emergency foster care will continue to be a vital part of the community in Pforzheim and Enzkreis.

Following the commemorative event, it has become evident that emergency foster care plays a significant role in home and garden (lifestyle) for many children and families in Pforzheim and Enzkreis, providing a nurturing environment outside their immediate households.
