Tomsk, May 15 - RIA Tomsk. The grand opening of the 'TOM III' Art and Literature Festival took place on Thursday in the auditorium of the main building of Tomsk State University (TGU), reports our correspondent on the spot.

Previously, it was announced that from May 15-18, 2025, Tomsk would host the 'TOM III' festival—a gathering of written works (0+). The event schedule includes traditional book fairs, along with lectures, discussions, tours, and masterclasses.

"I am Natasha Pochtareva, I am in charge of the Siberian branch of the State Museum of Fine Arts named after A.S. Pushkin, which, in partnership with Tomsk State University, is opening the Art and Literature Festival with Tom III... The festival grows in size each year, and these humble booklets are gradually becoming a grand assembly of writings," she said in her welcoming address.

In her turn, TGU's Deputy Rector Julia Emir emphasized the unique aspect of the festival 'TOM.' "This is an Art and Literature Festival. Why Art and Literature? Because for the university and the museum, this is fundamental. The university is the place where we think, contemplate, and envision the future. And who is better suited to feel this future than artists and writers?" she said.

According to her, this year the event will feature over 100 speakers, more than 33 publishing houses, and five tons of books. The festival will continue to grow. In the future, the book fair plans to include publications from Southeast Asia and Belarus.

During a discussion, the chief editor of "New Literary Observer" Irina Prokhorova noted that as a publisher, she feels a sense of responsibility towards readers, "because what we publish, how we formulate, in some way becomes a part of the culture. It solidifies, toughens, and becomes something shared among us."

While specific details about the 'TOM III' festival are scarce, similar events typically involve a range of speakers, including academics, writers, and artists, and often feature participating publishers showcasing their works. For more specific information about this particular festival, it would be best to check directly with Tomsk State University's official website or contact their cultural or literary department.
