Summer tour conclude officially by Mayor Martin Ansbacher, marked by numerous events
In the heart of Ulm, the city's institution is making a significant impact through various projects, encouraging community engagement and promoting diversity. The highlight of this summer was the two-week long "Strengthening Solidarity - Ulm Lives Diversity" summer tour, which concluded at the Radgassen Café.
Mayor Martin Ansbacher, who was present at each stop, engaged in conversations with professional and volunteer activists, expressing his admiration for the diversity of initiatives and the warmth of encounters during the tour.
The Radgassen Café hosted the final event, featuring organisations such as ADFC Ulm, the Refugee Council, Kulturloge, ZEBRA e.V., and the volunteer agency "engagiert in Ulm". Previous tour events took place at the Canapé Café in the Weststadt district, Café Blau in the Dichterviertel, and children's holiday recreation around the Freizeitheim Ruhetal.
The Freizeitheim Ruhetal holiday program, one of the largest and oldest in the country, celebrated its 75th anniversary last year. Many former participants of this program are now actively volunteering, contributing to the vibrant community spirit in Ulm.
The city's institution supports this central contact point, "engagiert in Ulm", for advice and networking. It also offers regular subsidies and promotes projects through the citizen foundation.
The institution encourages volunteering through various means, including providing meeting points, offering advice and networking, honoring engagement financially and ideologically, and offering benefits through the volunteer and honorary card.
According to Mayor Ansbacher, neighbourhood cafes, holiday programs, and open meeting formats are indispensable for social cohesion in Ulm. The summer tour included visits to clubs, facilities, and meeting points that promote inclusion, social cohesion, and volunteer work.
Mayor Ansbacher summarized that volunteering is attractive, convincing, and leads to further engagement. He plans to continue the summer tour in the coming year, aiming to further strengthen the sense of community and diversity in Ulm.
