Born in 1963, in Gera to an actress and a theater director, Dresen found solace in Schwerin after his parents' separation. His mother's relocation to Schwerin led to her landing an engagement at the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater, under then director Christoph Schroth who became a mentor to Dresen, significantly impacting his artistic growth. Schwerin, at that time, boasted an incredible ensemble that left a lasting impression on him.
"I am profoundly humbled," Dresen expressed after the honor, fondly recalling his past in Schwerin. Living in Potsdam today, he frequent's Schwerin, currently as a jury member at the Filmkunstfest Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, where he has previously triumphed in the past.
