"SaarMitte8" unveiled from the winners' perspective: Debut at Saarwellingen City Hall's art exhibition

The photography competition titled "LebensART SaarMitte8 - Life and Art in the Regions" is set to continue, following its successful inauguration earlier this year. The competition, organised by the LEADER region SaarMitte8, a coalition of eight municipalities from three Saarland districts, aims to highlight various perspectives on life and cultural expression in the regions.

Mayor Dr. Horst Brünnet welcomed the exhibition at its opening, which took place during a vernissage attended by numerous guests. The exhibition, currently on display in Saarwellingen for a duration of four weeks, is part of a travelling show that will tour through all eight member municipalities of the region.

The competition had 47 participants who submitted a total of 127 images. After a rigorous shortlisting process, 110 photos were selected, from which 13 winning photographs were chosen to be showcased in the exhibition. The winning photographs present a blend of urban charm, rural idyll, nature, architecture, art, and personal favourite spots in the regions SaarMitte8.

The "Who are you, SaarMitte8?" competition resulted in an exhibition of these 13 winning photographs, which was inaugurated on May 15, 20XX in the town hall foyer of Saarwellingen. A free photo calendar featuring the award-winning shots is available for visitors to take home, providing a daily reminder of the regions' diverse beauty.

The LEADER region SaarMitte8 promotes rural development and cultural identity. The competitions and exhibitions organised by the LEADER region aim to spark creativity and strengthen awareness of the diversity and quality of life in the regions. Submissions for the competition can be made until August 31, 2025.
