Roo plans to adopt Cohen on Home and Away!

In the latest episodes of the popular Australian soap opera, Home and Away, Roo Stewart (Georgie Parker) is embarking on a challenging yet heartwarming journey – adopting her foster child, Cohen Luther (Nathan Murray).

Roo's decision to apply for adoption comes after Cohen's mother, Samantha, is sentenced to 12 months in prison, making Cohen available for permanent care. However, the process is fraught with complications.

A significant hurdle is the arrival of a man named Adrian, who claims to be Cohen’s biological father. Paternity tests are underway, and until the results are confirmed, Roo’s adoption application is on hold. This new development has left Roo feeling frustrated and fearful about her chances of adopting Cohen.

Cohen, too, has shown tentative acceptance of Roo as a parent figure, but he still harbours hope for a reunion with his mother after her prison sentence. Social worker Harper Matheson has advised Roo to discuss adoption carefully with Cohen, considering his feelings.

Roo has sought advice from Cash Newman about foster care experiences to help her navigate the process and support Cohen. Meanwhile, her father, Alf Stewart, supports her emotionally but expresses concern about whether adoption is the right decision given past emotional risks Roo has faced.

The challenges faced by Roo are not just legal and emotional. They also involve family dynamics. Cohen's hospitalisation due to tonsillitis has reinforced Roo's attachment to him and her determination to adopt him.

This storyline on Home and Away highlights the complexities of foster care and adoption, capturing both Roo’s resolve and the obstacles she faces before Cohen can officially become her son.
