Restoring Historical Buildings in Krasnodar: A Collaborative Effort

In a commendable initiative, Avito Services and the charitable foundation "Tom Sawyer Fest - Heritage" have joined forces to restore historical buildings in 11 cities across Russia, including Krasnodar. This project is a testament to the platform's commitment towards supporting projects like Tom Sawyer Fest and their shared belief in making cities better together.

One of the key projects in Krasnodar is the restoration of the Barannik house, a striking example of modern architecture from the early 20th century. Located at the intersection of Gorky and Frunze streets, the Barannik house was built over 115 years ago and was once the home of Dmitry Ivanovich Baranik, a servant of the Ekaterinodar Treasury Palace.

The restoration process has been extensive, involving the removal of layers of paint, cleaning the surface, repairing loose fasteners, replacing damaged wood sections, recreating lost decoration, and even finding and installing corner locks over 100 years old. The unique wrought iron ornament, a traditional Kuban overhang, saved by volunteers in 2024, will also be restored and installed on the Barannik house. This ornament will harmoniously complement the historic facade, blending seamlessly with the balcony railing and doorframe.

Svetlana Filimonova, the head of the "Large Repairs and Construction" business line on Avito Services, has expressed her support for the Tom Sawyer Fest project and is ready to invest in preserving architectural heritage. Anastasia Knoer, director of the "Tom Sawyer Fest" charity foundation, shares this sentiment, expressing her happiness about participating in the restoration of Russia's historical heritage and preserving architectural monuments like the Barannik house.

In Krasnodar, the project also includes the restoration of the facade of a residential building from the end of the 19th century on Ordzhonikidze Street, 23, which had been demolished. The project aims to restore significant architectural objects in Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Tver, Kaluga, Chelyabinsk, Tobolsk, Klukvas (Kaluga region), Totma (Vologda region), and the village of Ipatovo (Republic of Komi).

Anyone interested can offer their help as an activist or a master on the project page. Avito will fully finance the repairs for the project, making it possible for a wide range of skilled individuals to contribute to these efforts to enhance the urban environment and safeguard cultural heritage for future generations.

  1. To further strengthen this collaboration, skilled individuals from the Avito platform are encouraged to lend their talents in home-and-garden expertise, helping to preserve and enhance the lifestyle of restored historical buildings such as the Barannik house.
  2. As this project progresses, the focus on home and lifestyle extends beyond the physical restoration of historical buildings, with an emphasis on creating a pleasing and authentic ambiance that reflects the culture and era of these architectural wonders, benefiting both the community and future generations.
