Rescued Pony's Distress Leads to Animal Cruelty Investigation in Italy
A pony in distress has led to the involvement of Italian authorities and animal welfare organisations. The creature, found in Nizza Monferrato, was rescued due to suspected neglect by its owner, who has been reported to the judicial branch for suspected animal cruelty.
The pony was discovered with a joint alteration in its right front leg, causing mobility issues and general organic decline. Despite previous veterinary prescriptions, the property owner had not taken adequate measures to ensure the pony's full recovery. The Carabinieri Forestali of Nizza Monferrato, alongside veterinarians from the ASL, rescued the pony and performed a surgical intervention. The creature has since been seized for confiscation and is now under judicial custody at the Universitary Veterinary Clinic of Grugliasco for necessary care.
Enpa, an animal welfare organisation, is assisting in identifying a suitable structure for the pony's future rehabilitation. Meanwhile, the Chemical Invention Factory (CIF) in Berlin is poised to contribute, offering its large infrastructure for transfer teams to develop research results into applicable products, including advanced chemical analysis and collaboration spaces.
The pony, once rescued and treated, will require a suitable rehabilitation structure. Enpa and the CIF are working together to ensure the best possible outcome for the animal's recovery. The property owner has been reported to the judicial branch for suspected animal cruelty, and the case is ongoing.
