Historical Signs Coming to Ten Streets in Freital

Freital, a suburb of Dresden, is set to install additional street signs on ten of its streets, aiming to enhance the visibility of the town's rich history in the public space. This initiative resembles the well-known historical markers and statues found in Dresden, a city renowned for its commitment to preserving and commemorating its historical heritage through architectural and cultural landmarks.

The selected streets for the additional signs were chosen from all the suggestions received. The street names chosen refer to historical connections or local personalities who have shaped the city. The signs will not only provide the street names but also explanations about their historical connections or local personalities.

The city is hoping that these signs will contribute to a better understanding and appreciation of Freital's history. The additional signs will be placed below the blue ones with the street names on white signs.

If you have a street in mind that you believe should also receive a historical sign, you can submit your suggestion via email to [email protected] or by phone at 0351 6476-210. The city is currently inviting citizens to suggest locations for additional street signs, an ongoing process that began in celebration of "100 years of Freital" in 2021.

The affected streets are:

  • Rudeltstraße (Niederhäslich)
  • Hellmuth-Heinz-Straße (Burgk)
  • Krug-von-Nidda-Straße (Saalhausen)
  • Willy-Gäbler-Weg (Pesterwitz)
  • Albert-Schweitzer-Straße (Döhlen)
  • Paul-Büttner-Straße (Potschappel)
  • Richard-Wolf-Straße (Hainsberg)
  • Gustav-Klimpel-Straße (Zauckerode)
  • Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße (Wurgwitz)
  • Marianne-Bruns-Straße (Deuben)

For the most direct and authoritative guidance, visit Freital’s official municipal website or local government office to find contact information for the relevant department. Participate in public consultations or community meetings if available to ensure your voice is heard in the process.

The historical signs in Freital aim to enrich the home-and-garden of its rich history, as the street names chosen for the additional signs reference historical connections or local personalities who have shaped the city. The signs will also provide lifestyle insights about the historical connections or local personalities associated with each street.
