Reinventing the Brewpub: Fachcherbräu's Strategy to Resuscitate Brauhaus 2.0

Crafting a New Brew: Bio-Brauerei Fächerbrau in Knielingen

Get ready, beer enthusiasts! The old Brauhaus 2.0 site is set to become the Bio-Brauerei Fächerbräu's new home. Christoper Wertz, the business manager, has shared these plans on our website, but the formalities aren't finalized yet.

In the meantime, Fächerbräu is allowed to host two events on the premises: The Brauereifest at Pentecost and the Lange Nacht der Brauereien. Before the events, they even reached out to the local citizens' association, receiving positive feedback and securing the services of two local musicians.

Setting Roots Down

Fächerbräu has already brewed beer in Bruchsal, Alsace, and the Black Forest. If the Knielingen plans materialize, this adventurous journey will reach its zenith. "We're finally ready to settle down," Wertz explains, after inspecting almost every vacant brewery in Baden.

The facilities in Knielingen seem perfect, inspiring plans for a beer garden at the location. In time, they hope to move the production into the building in the Egon-Eiermann-Allee and, in a dream scenario, establish a bottling line there.

Cold On Tap

The rooms of the former "Brauhaus 2.0" can brew up to 2,000 hectoliters of beer annually. Fächerbräu currently produces around 600 hectoliters per year. Wertz aims to boost this amount to 1,400 hectoliters and kick off sales directly from the tap at the new location before supplying the local gastronomy served by Fächerbräu with beer from the new production site.

Serving Brew and Bites:

The beer garden sounds exciting, but staffing it seems challenging. Fächerbraü is prepared, boasting a team of 40 mini-jobbers who handle the events. To reduce workload, the brewery will implement a self-service system, with patrons picking up their drinks at the counter and receiving a buzzer for their food orders.

Family-Friendly Fun

The new Fächerbräu gem in Knielingen will merge rustic charm with modern amenities. The outdated playground will get a makeover, with a swing ordered and a sandbox removed for hygienic reasons. To beat the summer heat, Fächerbraü is planning to use cooling water misting systems on the premises.

Drawing the region's families, Karlsruhe district residents can look forward to an enlivening, delightful experience at Fächerbräu's new beer garden. Cheers to that!
