Redesign Plan for Master Bathroom - Initial Stage of One Room Challenge
Master Bathroom Design: Creating a Modern European Spa-Like Sanctuary
The upcoming One Room Challenge this Fall will reveal the transformation of a master bathroom into a sleek, sophisticated, and accessible Modern European-style sanctuary. This design project, currently in its final stages, will showcase clean lines, natural materials, and a focus on functionality.
At the heart of the design is a walk-in, curbless shower, featuring a frameless glass enclosure to promote accessibility and a sleek, open feel. Large-format travertine mosaics and natural stone, such as Des Cerceaux Large mosaics combined with St. Laurent tiles, have been chosen for their textured yet minimalist aesthetic. To ensure comfort, radiant heated floors and heated towel racks have been integrated into the design.
Floating cabinetry or integrated vanities, often Italian-inspired, paired with modern fixtures in brushed nickel or premium European finishes, will provide ample storage and maintain a light, airy room feel. The lighting design focuses on elegance and adequate illumination, with elegant light fixtures planned for strategic locations.
The layout strategy prioritizes the shower as a central or prominent feature, often revealing it through frameless glass. Clear circulation paths are ensured, and accessibility features are made seamless rather than intrusive. Luxurious material choices are balanced with practical considerations such as waterproofing and storage. Integrated vanities or floating cabinetry are used to maintain a light, airy room feel.
The design team is also considering the addition of hanging art and curtains in the bathroom, as well as a pendant light over the tub. The design process took into account various elements such as cabinet color, flooring, lighting, tile, hardware, and layout.
