Politicians Razavi and Lindlohr embark on a commemorative journey

On the 14th of September, the nationwide Day of Open Heritage 2025 will unfold, with the statewide opening taking place a day earlier in Mannheim. This event promises to showcase a rich cultural landscape, presenting a diverse array of sites that span centuries to recent years.

The heritage tour will encompass a range of sites, from the centuries-old Cistercian Nunnery in Heiligkreuztal to the relatively young MPS Studio in Villingen-Schwenningen. This tour aims to highlight places of remembrance, bearers of history, and expressions of shared identity.

Minister Nicole Razavi will symbolically unlock a digital heritage map in Mannheim, providing information on over 90,000 built and artistic heritage sites and around 30,000 archaeological cultural heritage sites. This digital map, a product of the State Office for Heritage Preservation in the Stuttgart Regional Government and the State Office for Geoinformation and Land Development, will make the state's heritage data digitally accessible via the Geoportal Baden-Württemberg.

State Secretary Lindlohr, in a statement, emphasised that heritage preservation is cultural work that preserves what binds us. The value of these heritage sites is not material but social, making them priceless.

The tour's focus on the intangible value of heritage sites is a testament to their importance as living places of remembrance and recognition. The Day of Open Heritage 2025 falls under the motto "WERT-voll: priceless or irreplaceable?".

In the lead-up to the event, Minister Nicole Razavi will visit several locations, including Mannheim, Seckach-Großeicholzheim, Konstanz, Donaueschingen, and Villingen-Schwenningen on the 10th and 11th of September. State Secretary Andrea Lindlohr will launch the 2025 heritage tour with visits to several locations on the 8th and 9th of September.

The Night of Open Heritage in Mannheim will take place on the 13th of September, with Minister Nicole Razavi, Christian Specht, and Prof. Dr. Claus Wolf opening the event at the Stadthaus N1. The digital monument map was opened during the Night and Day of Open Monuments event in Mannheim on the 10th of September, although no specific individual is named as responsible for the opening in the provided information.

For more information about the Day of Open Heritage 2025, please contact the Ministry for Regional Development and Housing. Their Press Office can be reached via email, and a contact form is available for citizens on their website.

The heritage tour promises to be an enlightening journey through Baden-Württemberg's rich cultural landscape, reminding us of the priceless value of our shared history and identity.
