In the heart of Edmonton, a community-led initiative named Give 4 Grades has made a significant impact on local students. Over the past month and a half, community members have generously donated over 1,000 school items, ranging from pencils and notebooks to backpacks and calculators, to ensure that students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 have the resources they need to succeed academically.

Spearheaded by Lara Courtepatte, the co-founder of Tutor Teach, and in partnership with the Bissell Centre, Give 4 Grades aimed to increase awareness of the community's need for school supplies and encourage more participation. The collected items, which were gently used or new, will be distributed to families in need, providing equal opportunities for students who may not have access to these essential resources.

On Thursday morning, a one-day event took place in Avonmore Park for sorting and distributing the school supplies. Lara Courtepatte shared with our website News Edmonton about the initiative, expressing her gratitude for the community's support and her desire for the initiative to grow larger every year.

The Bissell Centre, a well-known community organization in Edmonton, has a history of supporting vulnerable populations through various programs and services. Their involvement in Give 4 Grades aligns with their broader goals of promoting education and community well-being.

For those who missed the opportunity to donate during the collection period, there is still a chance to contribute. People can still contact Tutor Teach through email or social media, or they can drop off donations at the Bissell Thrift Shop on Alberta Avenue during regular business hours.

Community initiatives like Give 4 Grades serve a vital role in alleviating financial burdens on families and promoting educational equity. By providing school supplies, these initiatives help ensure that every student has an equal opportunity to succeed academically, setting them on a path towards a brighter future.

Shoppers looking for ways to support education and community well-being can browse deals and discounts on home-and-garden, lifestyle, news, and shopping platforms, with a portion of their purchases going towards community initiatives like Give 4 Grades.
