National GetOutside Day 2025: Ordnance Survey Encourages Autumn and Winter Outdoor Activity
National GetOutside Day, organised by Ordnance Survey (OS), is set for Sunday, September 28. The event aims to promote year-round outdoor activity, even in autumn and winter. OS shares five safety tips for outdoor enthusiasts during these seasons, including checking weather forecasts and using OS Maps for route planning.
OS Maps, the app by Ordnance Survey, has seen a significant decrease in route creation during winter months. Between April and September 2024, 1,696,200 routes were created, but this number dropped by 23% over the winter months to 1,310,885 between October 2024 and March 2025. Despite the decrease, OS encourages outdoor activities in autumn and winter to boost physical and mental health.
In 2025, National GetOutside Day falls on the same date, Sunday, September 28. Although the hosting organisation is not specified, the event continues to promote outdoor exploration. Forestry England offers Wallace & Gromit trails for dog owners and families, providing fun and engaging outdoor experiences.
