Movie Premiere and Crime Drama Honors Creative Excellence

Summer Reading Club 2025 Concludes with Celebration in Ibbenbüren

The Summer Reading Club 2025 concluded last Saturday in the Kulturhaus hall of Ibbenbüren, marking the end of a successful year-long programme filled with creativity, teamwork, and a strong emphasis on promoting reading.

Mayor Dr. Marc Schrameyer attended the event and spoke about the importance of encouraging reading, especially during the summer months when children and teenagers may have more free time. Library director Dagmar Schnittker welcomed the guests at the opening, and the event was well-attended by children, teenagers, families, and parents.

Throughout the year, the library team organised various activities to engage participants, including visits from authors and storytellers, gaming afternoons, and a script and film workshop. The highlight of the workshop was the presentation of the film 'The Book of 1000 Secrets', produced by participants of the summer reading list workshop 2025. Awards were given in various categories for the most creative ideas during the Summer Reading Club. handverLESEN (Keke, Bente, Lukas, and Petra Schulenkorf) received the Most Original Team Name award, while Hennes Zahn was honoured with the Best Storytelling award. Noah and Jakob Wielage were recognised for their Most Creative Own Contribution.

Sorina Al Diebo, Smilla Hoppe, Federica Quiroga, Nora Raabe, Jorin Rieger, Leenke Rieger, Anouk Schulte-Varendorff, Polina Sharkova, Clint and Emily Uhlmann, and Hennes Zahn won prizes during the tombola. The film 'The Book of 1000 Secrets' featured the acting skills of Thomas Broll, Lutz Lienhop, Smilla Harwick, Hanna Reis, Hennes Zahn, Arvin and Avissa Zamani, Lion Rethmann, Polina Sharkova, and Noah Wielage.

Die Bücherwürmchen (Lou and Smilla Hoppe) won the Best Animated Film award, and Jule Albers won the Most Creative Logbook Design award. Ediz Erdoğan received the Coolest Logbook Photo award. The Most Beautiful Cover Design award was presented to Die Bücherfresser (Emily and Milan Baals).

All honorees were invited onto the stage for a group photo, and the city library team thanked all participants, sponsors, and supporters for an unforgettable summer reading time 2025. The Summer Reading Club is funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and has been under the responsibility of the Fachstelle für Öffentliche Bibliotheken NRW since the project year 2024. The film workshop is funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia within the framework of SchreibLand NRW, an initiative of the Literature Office NRW, supported by the Association of Libraries NRW.
