In the picturesque village of St Merryn, near Padstow, a unique collaboration between Rick Stein's Cornish Arms pub and Designers Guild has given a new lease of life to a humble shepherd's hut. As part of this partnership, Designers Guild has transformed the hut with their signature design style, creating a distinctive and inviting space that reflects both brands' identities.

The renovated shepherd's hut now offers a cosy living area, kitchenette, double bed, ensuite shower room, and under floor heating, all adorned with luxurious Rose de Damas linen, Foret Impressionniste-print bedding, hand-painted roses, and velvet and bouclé upholstery. This stylish, contemporary interior blends seamlessly with the rustic exterior, creating a special retreat or feature at the Cornish Arms.

Bookings for stays at the renovated shepherd's hut are now open, starting from February 6, and can be made on the Rick Stein website.

Meanwhile, in the world of art, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam has acquired a 72-centimeter-tall terracotta sculpture by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The sculpture, a study model of a scowling Triton, a minor Greek sea god, is the only work by Bernini in the Netherlands. Commissioned during Bernini's time, which was during the Baroque period, the sculpture was originally intended for the Fontana del Moro in Rome's Piazza Navona.

Triton, son of Poseidon, is typically depicted with a human upper body and fish-like lower one, but Bernini chose to give him human legs. He lived with his mother Amphitrite in a golden palace on the ocean floor.

The acquisition of this rare sculpture adds to the Rijksmuseum's impressive collection, which includes other model sculptures of Triton by Bernini, such as his Neptune and Triton at The V&A.

Meanwhile, Pure Data Centres is making headlines with its new building, which will be encased in a shell-like structure. When construction finishes in 2028, the building will boast the largest living wall in the world, covering 7,400 square metres of space. This living wall will store carbon, support insect populations, and absorb air pollutants from the surrounding area, equivalent to removing approximately 13,400 cars from the neighbouring North Circular.

In other news, five of the Rick Stein Group's restaurants are offering a limited edition grilled lobster with butter for £2.80 as part of a special offer. This offer is available on select bookings across Rick Stein Barnes, Winchester, Marlborough, Sandbanks, and the original Seafood Restaurant in Padstow.

This collaboration between Rick Stein's Cornish Arms pub and Designers Guild is to celebrate the 50th and 55th anniversaries of the Rick Stein Group and Designers Guild, respectively. The sculpture on display at the Rijksmuseum was also commissioned during a significant period, during the Baroque period.

In other unrelated news, Nephology is the study of clouds, and Dusty Springfield, born Sandra Goodrich, was a 1960s singer known for her powerful and emotive voice.

This collaboration between Rick Stein's Cornish Arms pub and Designers Guild is set to elevate the pub's offerings, creating a unique accommodation or leisure space for guests. Meanwhile, the acquisition of the Bernini sculpture by the Rijksmuseum is a significant addition to their collection, showcasing the artist's mastery during the Baroque period. And the upcoming Pure Data Centres building promises to make a positive impact on the environment with its living wall.
