Luxury towels created by Baina and Estudio Persona set to redefine bathroom essentials with their design-focused approach.
Baina, a bathing product brand founded in 2019 by Bailey Meredith and Anna Fahey, is set to release a new collection in September 2024. Named 'Umbra', this collection references the effect of light and shadow and is a testament to the brand's mission to disrupt the neutrality of the bathing space with design-led color palettes and patterns.
The 'Umbra' collection consists of a bath sheet, bath towel, hand towel, and bath mat, all featuring a subtle jacquard technique and an ombre palette of 'Stone', 'Sand', 'Rust', and 'Bark'. The collection was conceptualized as a complete toweling set, designed to offer a cohesive and stylish bathing experience.
The collaboration between Baina and Los Angeles-based design studio Estudio Persona, headed by Emiliana Gonzalez and Jessie Young, pushed the boundaries and allowed Baina to explore new creative possibilities in terry and toweling as textiles. The collaboration was born out of a shared philosophy of simplicity and refinement, and a mutual appreciation for each other's work.
The 'Umbra' collection towels are made entirely from cut pile, organic cotton velour, resulting in a plush texture and velvety soft surface. Each towel features a jacquard technique that contrasts raised blocks of terry against the base fabric, adding a touch of sophistication to the collection.
The towels are carefully crafted to have a soft, plush handle, while still being light enough to dry quickly. The 'Umbra' collection towels are also constructed using a two-ply twist, a detail in the weaving process that provides superior strength, stability, and higher absorbency.
