Luxury Timepiece, Credor's Goldfeather Tourbillon, Propels a Swarm of Birds High above Urushi Canvas

The Credor Goldfeather Tourbillon Limited Edition GBCF999 is a new addition to the world of high-end watches, and it's making waves in the industry. This extraordinary timepiece, crafted by the Seiko-owned brand Credor, represents the pinnacle of Japanese watchmaking and serves as a modern successor to the iconic Goldfeather watches of the 1960s.

A Symphony of Tradition and Innovation

The Goldfeather Tourbillon GBCF999 stands out for its unique avian motif, a distinctively Japanese artistic expression that seamlessly integrates with the watch's design. This motif is brought to life through the masterful application of traditional decorative techniques, demonstrating Credor's unwavering commitment to masterful craftsmanship and cultural heritage in high horology.

The tourbillon complication, a rare feature in Japanese watches, is the watch's technical heart. The constantly rotating tourbillon represents radiant solar energy, symbolizing the watch's connection to the sun and the passage of time. The tourbillon bridge, shaped like a bird in flight with outstretched wings, is the most poetic touch of the Goldfeather Tourbillon. Gold flecks surround the aperture of the tourbillon bridge, creating a sun-like effect that adds to the watch's overall aesthetic appeal.

A Masterpiece of Japanese High Horology

The Goldfeather Tourbillon GBCF999 is encased in Platinum 950, a choice that underscores the watch's luxury status. The watch's case size is 38.6mm, ensuring a comfortable fit for most wrists, while the case thickness is 8.6mm, making it a sleek addition to any collection. The crystal is a dual-curved sapphire with AR coating, providing clarity and durability.

The movement of the Goldfeather Tourbillon is the in-house Caliber 6850 manual-wind tourbillon. This movement, an evolution of Credor's 2016-introduced Caliber 6830, features an enlarged mainspring barrel, providing a power reserve of 60 hours. Each movement is hand-assembled by master watchmaker Katsuo Saito, who received Japan's Medal with Yellow Ribbon in 2023, with precision to within one-hundredth of a millimeter.

The dial features a jet-black urushi lacquer base and an intricate bird motif created by master artisan Isshu Tamura. Each piece of mother-of-pearl on the dial varies in thickness and color, requiring careful layering and shaving down of surfaces. The back of the watch features hand-engraved feather patterns and a greenish-blue feather made from yakougai (green turban snail shell), created using the same raden and maki-e techniques found on the dial.

The Goldfeather Tourbillon will be available starting in October for €190,000 (~$223,165) from Credor's boutiques. With its unique combination of traditional Japanese aesthetics and advanced tourbillon technology, the Credor Goldfeather Tourbillon Limited Edition GBCF999 is a masterpiece of Japanese high horology that is sure to capture the hearts of collectors and enthusiasts alike.
