Luxury fashion brands Dimoremilano and Loro Piana pay homage to the extravagant aura of '70s cinema in an opulent display set in Milan.
In the heart of Milan during the Design Week 2025, Dimorestudio has created an immersive and poetic reinterpretation of the Loro Piana House, titled "La Prima Notte di Quiete". This installation transports visitors into another dimension, overturning expectations and offering a sensory experience that blends decadence with intimacy [1][2][5].
Set within the Cortile della Seta courtyard at the headquarters of Loro Piana, the installation is a cinematic sanctuary that evokes a nostalgic, film-inspired atmosphere reminiscent of 1970s cinema [1][2]. The installation is a vivid, time-imbued experience, drawing on the ambiance and emotional resonance of that era’s cinema to craft a sensory environment that engages visitors beyond traditional display formats.
The design employs layered textures, moody lighting, and meticulously curated furnishings to build this immersive narrative. The installation features a foyer modelled on a vintage cinema, dressed with heavy red velvet curtains and leopard-print carpet [1][2]. Guests are then guided through a series of residential vignettes that reveal themselves as the experience progresses [3].
The installation includes new furniture pieces created by Dimoremilano for Loro Piana Interiors, along with classics from Dimorestudio's portfolio reimagined in Loro Piana fabrics. For instance, the 'Valsesia' oval dining table boasts a lacquered wood top with an Altai wool and cashmere fabric centre [4]. Other notable pieces include the 'Varallo' round bed, upholstered in Mohair velvet [6].
The installation also presents the debut of Loro Piana's 'Punti a Maglia' porcelain tableware, but it appears to have been shattered, adding to the overall cinematic narrative [5]. Antique sculptures and artworks sourced from Tornabuoni Art, Cardi Gallery, Galleria Gracis, and Secci Gallery are strategically placed throughout the installation, adding to its authenticity and atmosphere [7].
Dimorestudio's influences from filmmakers David Lynch and Federico Fellini are evident in this installation. The installation continues to emphasise tactile luxury, creating an inviting atmosphere where every detail contributes to a harmonious whole [8]. Visitors are given a golden, engraved key as a parting gift upon exiting the installation, serving as a memento of this unique and unforgettable experience [9].
"La Prima Notte di Quiete" is on view until Sunday, April 13th, at Via Della Moscova 33, Milan 20121. Timed reservations are required to ensure an intimate and immersive experience for each visitor [10]. Don't miss this opportunity to step into another dimension and immerse yourself in the world of Dimorestudio and Loro Piana.
