Lippstadt's Historic Water Tower Reopens as Artful Landmark

Lippstadt's historic water tower has reopened as a monument after a meticulous renovation and maintenance by Sparkassenstiftung Lippstadt. The tower, once the city's primary water source, now hosts public tours and a unique art installation.

The water tower, operational since 1901, served Lippstadt for over seven decades. Now, it stands as the city's tallest building and a beloved landmark. Visitors can explore its history and enjoy a modern art piece - a light column installed during the recent renovation. This column, accompanied by an acoustic backdrop, creates an illusion of an endless cloud, sun, or light tower.

Public tours are offered from October to March, on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. The next tour is scheduled for Tuesday, October 7, 2025, starting at 7:00 PM at the water tower. Each tour lasts approximately 60 minutes. Admission is free, sponsored by Sparkassenstiftung to promote art. However, registration is required due to limited participant numbers.
