Lank Region Dialect Thrives at Baumeister's Event
The Lank region dialect is far from extinct, according to enthusiasts who are keeping it alive through regular gatherings. The latest event, held at Baumeister's in Lank-Latum, attracted a crowd of 92 people. The next meeting is scheduled for December 9th at 7:30 PM.
The event was a lively mix of Plattdeutsch sketches, readings, word exercises, and singing, all led by Jürgen Fallack and Reiner Cziczkus. These two champions of the Lank region dialect have breathed new life into the tradition, building on the work of earlier enthusiasts like Johannes Toups and Karl M. The duo ensured a humorous and reflective atmosphere, explaining Plattdeutsch words along the way. The gathering featured performances by several local talents, including the Lank-Latumer Men's Choir.
