Kazakh Mothers' Stories Honoured in New Film on International Women's Day
As Kazakhstan celebrates International Women's Day, prominent figures have shared heartwarming stories about their mothers. Olympic champion Ermakhan Ibrayimov's mother, Zhanat Ibrayimova, initially had reservations about her son's sports career but became his steadfast supporter. Her story, along with others, is being honoured in a new film.
Zhanat Ibrayimova, a resilient and educated woman like Fatiha in the upcoming movie, initially struggled to accept Ermakhan's athletic ambitions. However, she overcame her reservations and became a pillar of support for her son, even making flatbreads and saying prayers for his success during competitions. Murat Auezov, recalling his own mother Fatiha, highlights the strength and resilience of Kazakh women in the early 20th century, a theme echoed in the upcoming movie.
Singer Aibek Jansetov also paid tribute to his strict yet supportive mother, who guided his musical career. Poet Aisha Kopzhassarova, mother of singer Berkuit, initially had reservations about her son's choice of profession but later became his biggest advocate, mirroring the journey of many Kazakh mothers.
The movie about Fatiha's life symbolises the strength and resilience of Kazakh women, while the stories of Zhanat Ibrayimova, Aibek Jansetov's mother, and Aisha Kopzhassarova remind us of the profound impact mothers have on their children's lives. As Kazakhstan celebrates International Women's Day, these stories serve as a testament to the unyielding spirit of Kazakh women.
