In a bid to promote sustainable and flexible travel, Transdev's subsidiary Ocecars has equipped its buses in Charente-Maritime with bike racks. These innovative systems, installed on the front of the buses, allow passengers to effortlessly load their bicycles before boarding.

This multi-modal travel solution offers several advantages. Passengers can use their bikes to cover longer distances quickly, disembark locally to explore on two wheels, or utilise the bus to reach scenic areas and trailheads for a bike tour.

The bike-and-bus combination, particularly popular during weekends or vacations when leisure cycling is at its peak, encourages more people to explore the region without the need for a car, making outings more accessible and enjoyable.

The bike rack service, which is free of charge and available all year round, can carry up to five bikes at once. The installation process takes just 20 seconds, ensuring a swift and efficient service.

This initiative is part of a contract with the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region and forms part of Transdev's commitment to more sustainable mobility. The bike racks aim to enhance the overall travel experience for users in Charente-Maritime, contributing to improved user mobility in the region.

Additional information about soft mobility initiatives can be found on the Transdev Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie networks. The bike racks have been a feature of public transportation in Charente-Maritime since June 9, 2025, and can be booked in advance via the dedicated app: CarVélo.

Moreover, the eco-friendly bike rack service is a gesture towards planet conservation, aligning with Transdev's goals of promoting greener transportation options. Users can now enjoy a more sustainable way to travel around Charente-Maritime.
