In the heart of Talavera, Spain, lies the Hotel Los Mercaderes - a historic building that has been meticulously renovated to preserve its architectural and cultural heritage. The property, dating back to the end of the 17th century, has undergone adaptations to suit its new functionality.

The hotel consists of seven apartments, five in the old part and two in a new construction beyond the patio. Architect Javier Aragón detailed the evolution and characteristics of the property, preserving all elements of the building.

Restoration efforts involved the installation of bathrooms and kitchens, the recovery of the patio, and the rear facade of the original house. A basement-type cave has been recovered through the installation of a heated pool with hydro-massage jets.

The front facade of the property was a major restoration effort, recovering the original paintings through the reproduction of the original marble work. Various trades have intervened in the restoration, including facade restorers, ceramists, blacksmiths, carpenters, and cabinetmakers.

The hotel's adaptations aimed to mix the virtues of the old with a touch of vanguardism without losing the great interest that the old house aroused. The products were displayed in the arcades of the buildings, reflecting the city's rich history.

Historically, the street where the property is located served as the main street of Talavera. It emerged by skirting the first walled enclosure of the city. The property is part of a street that has played a significant role in the city's development.

The mayor expressed his gratitude to the promoters of this initiative for betting on the city and its future, creating patrimonial wealth in a place that demanded action. He also congratulated the company ARTECTUM for its work, acknowledging their efforts in both the construction and conservation aspects of the heritage.

The visit to the property was made by Talavera's Councillor for Commerce, María Pilar Guerrero, and Councillor for Urban Planning, Benedicto García. The functionality of the described property is only accessible to registered users, offering a unique experience to those who appreciate the blend of history and modernity.

The Hotel Los Mercaderes stands as a fine example of integrating respect for architectural heritage with contemporary hospitality standards through expert restoration and collaboration with specialists like ARTECTUM. This approach has contributed to the cultural preservation of Talavera’s historic center and offers visitors a unique experience combining history and comfort.
