High-end audio brand, Clearaudio, broadens its reach with affordable turntables, preserving its signature premium quality.

Breaking tradition, luxury German audio brand Clearaudio is diving into affordable hi-fi territory with their latest turntable, the Compass. With high-end Clearaudio decks commanding upwards of £150,000, the Compass clocks in at an approachable €1290.

Aiming to democratize Clearaudio's expertise in premium turntables, the Compass boasts precision-milled components and top-notch materials without skimping on performance. The heart of the turntable is a precision bearing, paired with a custom-made platter and sub-platter, designed for maximum stability and minimum noise or unwanted vibrations.

The chassis sports medium-density wood fibre, while the steel bottom plate adds heft and stability. Powered by a resonance-damped DC motor, the affordably-priced deck can spin at 331⁄3 and 45 rpm speeds using an electronic changer. It ships with the newly unveiled moving magnet N1 cartridge and the new T1 tonearm, derived from the brand's Satisfy model.

Designed for ease of use, the Compass comes with a detachable acrylic lid and a plug-in power supply included. According to Robert Suchy, Clearaudio's CEO, the Compass offers "a vinyl-listening experience that exceeds expectations in this price range."

Flip through to September to cop the Compass in either silver or black, priced at €1290. Stay tuned for our take on this compact, affordable audiophile turntable.
