Rainy Summer Boosts Indoor Pool Visits in Brandenburg

The summer of 2023 in Brandenburg has been marked by unseasonably wet and cool weather, which has had a significant impact on outdoor swimming facilities. However, this weather has proven to be a boon for indoor pools, as more people seek out these weather-proof attractions.

The indoor playground and climbing opportunities at the holiday camp in Wittenberge have provided an additional attraction for visitors, with the leisure park's indoor pool, Friedensteich, remaining busy despite the cooler temperatures. Similarly, the indoor pool at the leisure park has offered a comfortable retreat for children during heavy rain or thunderstorms.

In Potsdam, the city works daily to decide whether to open the beach pools based on the weather forecast. Despite the rainy weather, Ronny Klein, director of Seebad Prenzlau, remains optimistic about the final count of visitors. However, the outdoor pools at Waldbad Templin have had fewer visitors than average since the season opened.

Meanwhile, Tropical Islands, the largest indoor pool in Brandenburg, has seen a "good and above all short-term demand" this summer. Spokespersons for various leisure facilities have reported that children continue to swim in the indoor pools at temperatures as low as 12 degrees.

The spokesperson for the Zweckverband Lausitzer Seenland Brandenburg has reported a decrease in bathers at Großkoschen, with significantly fewer people visiting the lakeside this year. In contrast, indoor pools such as Tropical Islands have benefited from these weather conditions, offering a controlled and comfortable environment unaffected by outdoor weather.

Indoor pools provide an alternative for bathers who do not want to swim in cold or rainy weather, and this increased demand has been observed across Brandenburg. The pool manager at Seebad Prenzlau advises people to make the most of the few sunny hours, but it's clear that indoor pools are here to stay as a popular alternative when outdoor options are limited by weather.

Amidst the rain, Tropical Islands, the largest indoor pool in Brandenburg, has experienced a surplus of visitors seeking the controlled, weather-proof environment it offers.
