In the picturesque Rhön region, a group of former classmates from the Polytechnic Secondary School Geisa (POS) gathered for a heartwarming reunion at Café Kohlbachtal in Zitters. The event, organised by Hubert Knackert, Rainer Henkel, and Margarethe Klein, was an unforgettable experience for the 22 participants who travelled back in time to reminisce about their school days.

The reunion kicked off with a warm welcome from Thomas Schütz and his team at Café Kohlbachtal, a local gem in the region. The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by the performance of the youth brass band from Borsch, under the direction of Christopher Trott.

During the evening, former students shared memories of their teachers, including Hans-Jürgen and Inge Nienkargen, Jochen Hendel, Hans Sauerbrei, Rexhäuser, and Kaiser. A musical highlight of the reunion was the performance of the well-known "Steigerlied".

As a token of appreciation, Hubert Knackert handed over a donation of 400 euros to the Geisaer Alten- und Pflegeheim. He also presented gifts and conveyed warm greetings from all participants. Tears of joy and gratitude were expressed at the home for the elderly and disabled.

The reunion concluded with a commemorative photo in front of the entrance portal of Catholic Church St. Sebastian, another jewel in the region. Many of the former graduates had later worked at the VEB Kalibetrieb, and this was mentioned during the joint musical performance.

For those seeking information on this particular class reunion, reaching out to the school directly (if it still operates) or local historical societies in Geisa could be a useful approach. Exploring local archives, newspapers, or community bulletin boards in Geisa for reunion announcements or reports, or delving into alumni groups or social media platforms that might have members from that era sharing photos or memories, could also yield valuable insights. Unfortunately, the current searchable online resources appear unrelated to this specific inquiry.

  1. The participants shared memories of their teachers such as Hans-Jürgen and Inge Nienkargen, Jochen Hendel, Hans Sauerbrei, Rexhäuser, and Kaiser, which sparked reminiscences of their school days, exemplifying a blast from the past in their lifestyle.
