On sweltering summer days, the desire for swimming pools spikes. To determine which pools are the most sought-after and which ones are less favored, Testbericht.de, an unbiased review platform, scrutinized over 800,000 online reviews. Unfortunately, all of Bremen's public pools fell below the...

Freibad Ranking: Bremen's summer swimming spots lag behind others in the rankings

In a recent analysis, over 1,732 public pools across Germany were evaluated based on reviews from the popular platform Testbericht.de. The evaluation focused on outdoor swimming facilities, considering only those that are laid out in a defined area in the style of a public pool, complete with fixed edges, diving towers, and children's pools.

The Terassenschwimmbad Nebra in Saxony-Anhalt ranked third in the evaluation, boasting an impressive 4.8 out of 5 stars. The Freibad Uchte in Lower Saxony took the top spot with an even higher rating of 4.8 stars. Both pools are appreciated for their excellent facilities, friendly staff, and well-maintained premises.

The Freibad Uchte is particularly noted for its top lifeguard, children's facilities, comfortable loungers, kiosk offerings, early opening hours, and beach volleyball court. Conversely, many criticize the outdoor facilities at the Montre Mare in Rheinbach near Bonn as dirty and poorly maintained, and the limited opening hours often lead to the pool being closed on sunny days.

Bremen's public pools were not among the highest-rated in the country. The city-state does not have any public pools with such high ratings. Bremen's best public pool, the Stadionbad, has 470 reviews and 4.1 out of 5 stars, ranking 1,539th nationwide. The Freibad Blumenthal, with an average of 3.8 stars and 332 reviews, ranks as Bremen's lowest-rated public pool, placing it 1,710th nationwide.

Critics of the Freibad Blumenthal mention issues with swimming ID requirements, fights, and pepper spray incidents. However, some people find positive aspects in the Freibad Blumenthal, such as the "friendly staff," the "child and toddler area in the green with many meadows," and the fair entrance fees.

Public pools that belong to an indoor pool were considered if they have a large, separate outdoor pool and a large sunbathing area. All reviews were included in these cases. If two or more Google entries were found for the same pool, the profile with the most informative reviews regarding the use of the public pool was taken as the basis, or the one with the most reviews if in doubt.

Despite the comprehensive evaluation, the search results do not provide specific information about which German cities have public bathing facilities with at least a 4.4-star rating on Testbericht.de; therefore, this information cannot be confirmed from the available data.

The evaluation is based on Google reviews of publicly accessible public pools in Germany with at least 100 reviews. In case of equal rating, the number of reviews was taken into account - the more, the better. This approach ensures a fair and accurate representation of the public's opinion on these swimming facilities.
