Forest Adventures for Children Aged 8-11 During Weekdays in December

Forest School sessions for home-educated children are set to begin at the serene Foxburrow Barn Venue, offering a unique opportunity for unaccompanied children aged 11-16 years old to immerse themselves in a sensory-based learning experience.

The sessions, following the Forest School ethos of child-led learning, aim to ignite curiosity and create unforgettable experiences. They incorporate various interactive sensory activities, such as the use of Tuff Trays filled with different natural materials and tools, encouraging exploration and learning through touch and play.

The program is structured around weekly themed sessions, providing variety and continuous engagement for children throughout the term. The focus is on sensory adventure, enhancing children's connection with nature and promoting experiential learning.

All sessions are held entirely outside, so children should pack a packed lunch, a drink, and suitable outdoor clothing, including closed-toed shoes and long trousers, due to the presence of stinging nettles and midges. Activities may include making s'mores, popcorn, damper bread, seasonal jam, drop scones, brownies, and hot chocolate.

Children must be dropped off by an adult who confirms emergency contact details with staff and indicates who will be collecting the child. It's important to note that fires and tools will not be permitted for use with bare legs and toes.

Wheelchair access is available for the sessions, and if your child has specific mobility needs, please contact the organizers before booking. Booking for the event closes the day before it takes place.
