Exploring Hues with Purple Crafts and Activities within the Brown Bear Educational Series

In the sixth instalment of the "Learning Colours" series, we delve into the world of purple, inspired by the charming purple cat from the beloved book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?"

Today, we embark on a creative journey filled with crafts and activities that celebrate the vibrant purple hue.

Firstly, we managed to gather enough purple items for a container, ready for our crafting adventures.

F, our creative lead, used a cat-shaped sponge to make beautiful purple prints on paper, adding a whimsical touch to our day. A purple footprint was also created, without the aid of paintbrushes, using only paint and a creative foot!

Moving on to our crafts, children can engage in felt animal cutouts, creating a tactile storytelling experience with a purple cat or other animals from the book. Colouring and cut-and-paste crafts provide opportunities for children to personalise scenes from the story, while sequencing story sliders allow them to retell the tale visually and interactively.

Sensory bins and matching games offer a fun and engaging way to learn about colours, using purple objects to represent the cat. Dress-up and role-playing activities, such as making or wearing a purple cat costume, further enhance the learning experience by encouraging creativity and engagement.

These activities not only integrate art, literacy, sensory play, and movement, but also maintain the colour theme from the book’s animals, making the learning experience multidimensional and immersive.

So, join us as we continue to explore the world of colours, one craft at a time, inspired by the enchanting characters from "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?"
