Expands the availability of an online questionnaire focusing on 'Residency in Berlin', through the European Commission.

The Senate Administration for Social Affairs in Berlin has launched an online survey called "Life in Berlin". This survey, available at www.isg-institut.de, aims to gather data for the Berlin Inclusion Report 2025, a comprehensive document that will guide policies aimed at improving the lives of all Berlin residents.

Participation in the survey is anonymous and voluntary, and a total of 20 prizes of 50 euros each will be given away to participants as a thank you for their time. The survey is designed to understand the needs of people living in Berlin, including those with low income, disabilities, and other burdens.

The "Life in Berlin" survey is a tool for gathering public opinion and feedback on issues related to inclusion and equal opportunities in Berlin. It is intended to address the challenges faced by different groups of people in the city.

The challenges for low-income and disabled residents likely encompass affordable housing, employment access, education, and social inclusion. They expect politics to focus on inclusion, equality of opportunity, and alleviating structural barriers through measures like enhanced educational and job programs and social support systems.

Individuals with disabilities and other burdens often encounter barriers in accessing education, job programs, and social services. However, some surveys indicate a positive trend where a significant portion (85%) of supported people affirm access to good educational or job programs, reflecting some progress towards inclusion.

People with low income face challenges related to the high cost of housing, which has been rising steadily, making affordable housing a critical issue. Broader integration challenges such as bureaucracy, language barriers, and social exclusion are noted for expats in Germany, which may parallel obstacles faced by marginalized groups within Berlin.

The data from the "Life in Berlin" survey will be used to develop measures to strengthen inclusion and benefit everyone in Berlin. The Berlin Inclusion Report 2025 will be used to guide politics that promotes inclusion and equal opportunities in Berlin. The survey results will form the basis for these politics, ensuring that the voices of all Berliners are heard and their needs are addressed.

If you live in Berlin and wish to contribute to this important initiative, take the "Life in Berlin" survey today. Together, we can make Berlin a city that is truly inclusive and offers equal opportunities to all its residents.

  1. The "Life in Berlin" survey, aimed at understanding the needs of diverse Berlin residents, also seeks insights into their home-and-garden lifestyle and sustainable-living practices, as these factors can influence the city's overall livability and sustainability.
  2. In their quest to improve the lives of all Berliners, the Senate Administration for Social Affairs may consider incorporating questions about sustainable lifestyle choices, such as home gardening and recycling, into future editions of the "Life in Berlin" survey, to further promote and assess sustainable living in the city.
