In the city of Nettetal, a new initiative called Safe Zones has been launched to enhance security in public spaces, particularly in pedestrian areas, town centers, and school routes. The announcement was made by Dominik Hoffmann, head of the 'Family and Education' department of the city.

Safe Zones are part of the 'GemeinsamSicher' project, a district-wide initiative in Viersen. These zones serve as low-threshold contact points for families and children, offering information, support, and assistance in everyday situations. They are easily recognizable by a sticker resembling a protective umbrella over two child faces.

The Family Office and KIMMBO, both participating in the 'GemeinsamSicher' project, have opened their facilities as Safe Zones. Employees are welcoming short visits from parents and children to provide information and guidance. Examples of minor uncertainties that Safe Zones aim to address include injuries on the way to school, missed buses, or feelings of threat.

Safe Zones are centrally located and open during the day, staffed by trained personnel. They serve as a valuable resource for children and young people in the town centers and school routes. If necessary, existing support services in Nettetal and the surrounding area can be pointed out in Safe Zones.

While there is no specific information available about institutions involved in the Safe Zones near Lobberich and Breyell, children and young people in these areas now have additional official points of contact for security and support in everyday emergency situations. Visits can occur during practices of the school route or while shopping nearby.

This new initiative is encouraging all institutions that come into contact with children and young people, as well as Nettetal parents, to inform their children about this new offer. The aim is to ensure that everyone in the community feels safe and supported.
