Evening illumination in Solingen: tunes, illumination, and access in the glass workshop
Solingen is set to illuminate once more as the traditional Lichternacht festival returns on Saturday, September 20th. This year's event, themed "Light connects", promises a unique experience that will bring together culture, community, and light in a special way.
The festival will not be confined to the Glaserne Werkstatt. Instead, it will span across the city, with numerous institutions and clubs contributing to the programme. Clubs and institutions will create their own program points during Lichternacht, ensuring a diverse and engaging line-up.
The heart of the festival will be the city centre, where glowing paths and action spaces will lead visitors from the city centre to the Südpark. Three churches - Clemenskirche, Stadtkirche, and Lutherkirche - will be transformed into radiant beacons, adding a spiritual touch to the festivities.
As night falls, the cityscape will come alive with numerous illuminations. Illuminated figures on stilts will move among the visitors, adding special accents to the cityscape. The festival will also offer a colourful and lively atmosphere, with extended shopping hours and many stores participating in late-night shopping.
Music will play a significant role in this year's Lichternacht. While the band accompanying the evening has not been explicitly identified, the Glaserne Werkstatt will host the band P.O.K.E., who will provide live music using guitar, bass, cajón, and vocals, performing well-known songs in their unique style.
Lichternacht will also offer various actions and activities for visitors to enjoy. The Glaserne Werkstatt at Hauptstraße 61-63 will be open from 9 PM, inviting visitors to explore and participate in the festivities.
In conclusion, Lichternacht in Solingen promises to be a spectacular event that will connect culture, community, and light in a special way. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this is an event not to be missed!
