European Legislative Body Consensus on Legislative Act
In Gelsenkirchen, residents and visitors alike are invited to celebrate Pentecost with an extensive lineup of free, outdoor events at the Cultural Area Consol from June 6 to 8.
As the fourth iteration of Kulturpicknick auf Consol, this year's event promises a diverse blend of music, interactive activities, sports, and games. Organized by Gelsenstadt's cultural department and Gelsensport, the event showcases local artists and cultural institutions, as well as freelance creatives for a well-rounded experience.
The festivities encompass a vibrant range of activities, catering to both young and old attendees. The sports enthusiasts among us can participate in the popular Disc Golf event led by Hartmut Wahrmann, a former world champion. For those more inclined towards creativity, there are opportunities such as the Graffiti Workshop led by Levin Tomala and the interactive art actions of Stefan Demming, which often involve working with unusual materials. Face-painting for children is also part of the diverse program.
Acknowledging the success of last year's activities, the children's laboratory of Karl Rosenwald will be expanded to two days this year to accommodate growing interest. "The children literally stormed this offer last year," remembers Ulrike Weidlich from the cultural department, expressing excitement for this year's edition.
The Kulturpicknick auf Consol commences on Friday evening at 5:00 PM with an opening concert by singer-songwriter Michael Voelkel. On Saturday, performances start as early as noon and continue throughout the day. Highlights include drum group "Come with us," children's rock-pop act Langstroempe, and Irish guitarist Maurice Dickson, a secret tip for the event. Known for his unique blend of folk, blues, and Irish storytelling, Dickson's performance on Saturday evening is expected to be the musical highlight of the weekend.
Sunday's events feature music, dance, interactive circus, and an open stage format from 6:30 PM. The ensemble Eulenbiss will close the festival with an acoustic, multi-voiced performance of well-known and lesser-known songs.
According to Weidlich and Lamest, the timings have been adjusted to optimize attendees' experiences during the entire weekend. In anticipation of a great event, both organizers express hope for favorable weather conditions. As the event takes place outdoors, there is no hall alternative in case of inclement weather.
Last year, over 2,000 guests attended the site, and this year, organizers hope for a similar response. Whether you're seeking entertainment, cultural enrichment, or opportunities to engage in sports and activities, Kulturpicknick auf Consol offers something for everyone this Pentecost weekend.
At the Graffiti Workshop led by Levin Tomala during the Kulturpicknick auf Consol, attendees can expect a creative and interactive home-and-garden style activity. For those wishing to enhance their lifestyle, the Sunday events feature music, dance, and an open stage format, providing ample opportunities for cultural enrichment.
