Enjoying the Chill Vibes of Summer in Rutesheim
Rock on in Rutesheim! Every weekend from now until mid-September, the town square transforms into a lively, music-filled sun deck. Fuel up with cool drinks, unwind in cozy seating areas, and mingle with locals. The brainchild of a local organic grocer, the Sun Deck festival is here to bring some spirited energy to the town.
Picture yourself sipping on a refreshing drink while tapping your feet to music — that's the essence of any good festival. And that's exactly what you'll find at the Sun Deck festival in Rutesheim, affectionately called Bio Baeder. This awesome event is an extension of the organic store's long-standing tradition of hosting fests on their store premises and beyond.
The idea for the Sun Deck festival was born when a curious customer suggested setting up shop right in front of the town hall. Sparked by this idea, the store owner pitched the concept to the city, who were quick to get on board. With the green light from the city council, the Sun Deck made its grand debut last weekend.
Expect the square to come alive with a bar, seating, and more from 5 pm to 10 pm every Friday and Saturday. Expect a mix of local businesses, clubs, and organizations joining in the fun. The lineup can vary from festivals to performances, workshops, and even interactive events. The program will cover a wide range of activities, ensuring there's something for everyone.
On June 21, Gregor Meyle kicks off the festival season at Leonpalooza in the city park. If you missed the opening event with the Art Helps artists' association, fear not — there's plenty more to come. future events include DJ sets, a saxophonist, dance studio demonstrations, yoga classes, and even appearances from the Rutesheim pop choir. Of course, Bio Baeder will be there serving their organic wines.
The town square offers more space and wider appeal, making it safer and more accessible for attendees. After all, when the crowd gets too big at the store, standing room spills out onto the streets. But at the Sun Deck, you've got plenty of space to embrace your festival spirit.
For those with accessibility needs, the Sun Deck concept also prioritizes barrier-free access. The city encourages event organizers to provide additional facilities to ensure all pop-in and enjoy the festivities. If you're interested in hosting your own event at the Sun Deck, feel free to reach out to the Economic Development Officer Erika Haak at [email protected] for available dates.
