Enhancing School Ambiance Through Artistic Creation on the Ground Floor
In the heart of the Munich district, a modern seven-story school building is under construction, set to open as the new State Realschule Landshut. This new educational institution is not just a place for learning, but also a canvas for art and tolerance.
The city of Landshut has announced a competition for the realization of the artwork for the new school building, following a decision by the building committee. From a pre-selected group of eight designs, a winner was chosen, but details about the winning artwork design have yet to be revealed.
A total of 120,000 euros have been allocated for the realization of the artwork, which will be placed in the publicly accessible area of the school or in the inner courtyard. The competition for art in public spaces attracted around 40 visual artists, who submitted their applications in the fall.
An exhibition of art proposals for the new school building is currently on display at the Great Town Hall Gallery. Seven participant works, including the winning design, are on show. The exhibition, titled "Art for the Future," is open to the public daily from 10 to 15 o'clock, with free admission. The exhibition runs from February 24 to March 3, and the entrance is via Grasgasse.
The artwork is intended to serve as an identifying element for the new school building and to sensitize future students to art and tolerance. The participants in the competition include renowned artists such as Lena Policzka (Oberammergau), Gregor Passens (Munich), Susanne Pittroff (Munich), Oh-Seok Kwon (Munich), Renato Rill (Munich), Markus Wurmer (Hausen), Gabriele Obermaier (Munich), and the working group Goderbauer/Einberger (Freising).
The new school building will boast a three-court sports hall and outdoor sports facilities, providing space for up to 1,000 students and 100 teachers. The school will offer a modern learning environment, with the artwork serving as a constant reminder of the importance of art and tolerance.
