New Leadership for Düsseldorfer Jonges: Dr. Reinhold Hahlhege Elected as President

In a historic moment for the Düsseldorfer Jonges, a local heritage and cultural association based in Düsseldorf, a new president was elected during the annual meeting held on Tuesday, April 29, in the Henkelsaal. Dr. Reinhold Hahlhege, who previously served as vice-chairman, was chosen to succeed the long-standing leader, Wolfgang Rolshoven, who announced he would not be running again.

Dr. Hahlhege, who is also the Baas (President) of the Düsseldorfer Jonges, leads the organization’s meetings, including the regularly held "Heimatabend" (homeland evenings), significant events attended by hundreds of members in the Henkel-Saal. The Düsseldorfer Jonges focus on caring for their hometown Düsseldorf, working on its future with civic proposals, fostering history, culture, customs, and dialect, supporting charity projects, and promoting integration of foreign residents. As President, Dr. Hahlhege guides these broad cultural and civic activities through his leadership role.

The election was a close contest, with 42.51% of the votes cast for Hans-Jürgen Tüllmann and 57.49% for Dr. Reinhold Hahlhege. Norbert Knuth and Hans-Jürgen Tüllmann initially announced their candidacy for the position, but Knuth unexpectedly withdrew. Vice-Chairman Hahlhege announced his intention to take on the responsibility.

Alongside Dr. Hahlhege, Maximilian Schönauer, Jan Hallen, Ilmhart Kühn, and Ralf Wagner were elected to complete the board. Timo Greinert was elected as the first deputy, while David Mondt was elected as the second deputy. It's worth noting that Hans-Jürgen Tüllmann was not available for deputy positions.

The meeting was conducted using an electronic voting system, ensuring a fair and efficient process. Wolfgang Rolshoven, the outgoing president, received a miniature of the Köbes monument as a farewell gift, a symbolic representation of his years of dedication and service to the Düsseldorfer Jonges. The room erupted in a long-standing applause for Rolshoven from all in attendance.

Dr. Hahlhege expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him, promising to continue the work started by his predecessor and to uphold the values and mission of the Düsseldorfer Jonges. The new board is now set to carry on the organization's important work in preserving and promoting Düsseldorf's rich cultural heritage.
