In a series of captivating images released by the Royal House, Leonor can be seen scaling the masts of the Juan Sebastián de Elcano, securing the sails with her fellow cadets from the Naval Military School. Rest assured, every inch of these towering masts is traversed with her and her crew donning safety harnesses - safety first!

Her mission doesn't end there. Leonor demonstrates her knowledge of celestial navigation by using a sextant to determine the ship's position. However, it's not all hard work. She can be seen chatting with her comrades before lunch or engrossed in one of the classes she receives on board, delving into fascinating subjects such as Navigation, Astronomy, Meteorology, Amphibious Operations, Combat Support, and Maneuvers.

The crew consists of 20 officers, 20 petty officers, 130 military personnel, and two civilian masters!

This prolonged voyage will take them to Salvador de Bahía, Brazil, the first port of call on the American continent. After departing from Cádiz on January 11, they have already stopped at Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, setting sail for Brazil on January 23. The arrival in Brazil is anticipated for February 14.

Following Brazil, the Juan Sebastián de Elcano will call at Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Panama, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic, before concluding its journey in New York. Instead of returning across the Atlantic like the other midshipmen, Leonor will fly to Spain from the United States to board a frigate and continue her training. Once her training is complete, she will return to board in Gijón to continue the Elcano voyage, passing through Ferrol and finally arriving at the Naval Military School.

These seafaring escapades form a crucial part of the Princess's maritime education, encompassing a three-year training program.
