The 15th Youth Theatre Festival, organised by the Lower Saxon and Bremen German Stage Association (NBB), took place at the municipal cultural centre in Osterholz-Scharmbeck. This yearly event, themed "We shape the future", attracted a total of 120 participants, including children and young people from various German stages, who travelled from cities such as Neuenburg, Emden, Nordenham, Haselünne, Aurich, Wilhelmshaven, and Cuxhaven.
The festival weekend revolved around theatre-related activities, with six performances from guests being the main focus. The performances took place in the large hall of the barn at Gut Sandbeck, with the first evening offering disco and karaoke for entertainment, hosted by Ulrike Schütze from Wilhelmshaven and Timon Finke, the 2nd chairman of the TIO.
On Friday evening, Plattmüüs performed their play "The Neverending Story" at the Youth Theatre Festival, based on the novel by Michael Ende and adapted for the stage by John von Düffel. The diverse workshop program focusing on developing new acting skills ran concurrently throughout the festival.
Each festival day began with a warm-up program on the sports field at Gut Sandbeck. All participants wore pink T-shirts with the slogan and festival information printed on them. A large parachute was set up in the courtyard as sun and rain protection, provided by the Lions Club.
The TIO team, led by Arnold Preuß, president of the German Stage Association, ensured that food and drinks were provided for all participants. Preuß expressed comfort at the festival and praised the organisers and TIO team for their hard work. He confirmed that theatre playing is enriching and an essential part of personal development for young people.
