Construction of 167 residential units completed at Theater Square, Hellersdorf
New Residential Project at Theaterplatz, Hellersdorf, Set to Complete in 2026
A significant new development is underway in Hellersdorf, with the residential apartment project at Theaterplatz set to complete in the second quarter of 2026. This ambitious project, being developed by HOWOGE, Laborgh Investment, and construction company Goldbeck, in collaboration with STADT UND LAND, aims to create a vibrant and sustainable community.
The project will consist of 167 rental apartments, with a diverse range of sizes from one to five rooms, each featuring either a balcony or a terrace. Almost half of these apartments will be reserved for individuals with a housing entitlement certificate, making this development an important contribution to affordable housing in Berlin.
The outdoor areas will be a highlight of the project, encompassing play areas, green spaces, parking for bicycles, and cars. Approximately 670 square meters have been allocated for these spaces, which will be supplemented by naturally designed green spaces. The energy concept for the building is innovative, with an "only electricity" house, utilising an air-water heat pump and photovoltaic system, ensuring a low carbon footprint.
The project caters to various target groups, including families and students, and is designed to meet the KfN-40 standard, which aims to reduce energy consumption and stabilise utility costs for tenants. The development is strategically located near the U5 subway line and the night bus N5, providing easy access to the Berlin city centre.
Residents will also benefit from the nearby neighbourhood centre "Helle Mitte", offering a variety of options for education, dining, and leisure. Schools, kindergartens, shopping facilities, and the Alice-Salomon University of Applied Sciences are all within walking distance, making this a family-friendly location.
The construction project at Theaterplatz is situated on Schkeuditzer Straße, corner of Louis-Lewin-Straße, near the border with Brandenburg. This development is part of HOWOGE's strategy to provide affordable and sustainable housing in Berlin, and it aims to strengthen the social mix in Hellersdorf by combining freely rentable apartments and units for people with housing vouchers.
Construction on the project began in November 2024, and it is expected to be a valuable addition to the Hellersdorf community when it is completed in 2026.
