New 21-Mile Stretch of England Coast Path Opens in Norfolk

The England Coast Path, a stunning 2,700-mile walking route around England's coastline, has expanded with the opening of a new 21-mile section in Norfolk. This marks the second stretch of the path to open in the county, following the 26 miles established between Weybourne and Sea Palling in December 2014.

The route, which passes through towns and villages including Gorleston-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth, Caister-on-Sea, and Hemsby, offers a beautiful and quieter section of Norfolk's coastline for walkers and wildlife watchers. It also provides opportunities for exploration and discovery for guests at Haven's Hopton Holiday Village.

Natural England, the government body responsible for protecting and improving England's natural environment, worked with Norfolk County Council to establish the route. The idea to create the England Coast Path between Hopton-on-Sea and Sea Palling was initiated by Natural England.

The new path, which includes 3 new miles of access between Horsey and Sea Palling, is a fabulous addition to the country's walking routes. According to Natural England's Chairman, Andrew Sells, the England Coast Path is a fabulous legacy for the country.

Lord Gardiner of Kimble, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at Defra, expressed delight that more miles of the coastline will be open for people to enjoy. Norfolk County Council Chairman David Collis urged people to visit the new path and discover more of Norfolk's beautiful county.

The England Coast Path, when completed, will be the longest continuous coastal walking route in the world and will become a National Trail. Over 60% of the route for the 2,700-mile path is already under construction.

The opening of the new trail coincides with the publication of Natural England's latest evidence report on visits to coastal England. The report shows that visitors travel from further afield to reach the coast and spend more money at coastal destinations compared to inland ones.

The England Coast Path offers many benefits, including improving physical and mental wellbeing. It is a stunning location for people to visit and enjoy the beauty of England's coastline. Andrew Sells also mentioned that the latest section opening in Norfolk is a wonderful showcase for the varied coastline of Norfolk.

Jonathan Stratford, General Manager at Haven's Hopton Holiday Village, expressed support for the new coastal path. He believes it will enhance the holiday experience for guests and provide a unique selling point for the village.

The England Coast Path is a project that aims to improve access to the coast for everyone, promote health and wellbeing, and celebrate England's diverse and beautiful coastline. It is a project that will benefit both the environment and the economy, making it a wonderful legacy for the country.
