Title: Support Refugee Children this Saturday in Iðnó! Art Auction, Music, and Hope

Get ready to make a difference this weekend! On Saturday, the 17th of December, from 2-4pm, join us in the heart of Iðnó for a special art auction. This event offers a unique opportunity to invest in beautiful artwork and help support refugee children, all while enjoying some fantastic musical entertainment.

Among the array of artworks available, you'll find pieces by some of our most renowned artists, but also creations by talented young artists who are eager to contribute and make a difference. Esther Þorvaldsdóttir, one of the founders of the organization Rights for Refugee Children, is at the forefront of this initiative.

When it comes to the Rights for Refugee Children, Þorvaldsdóttir explains, "We strive to uphold the rights of children who are fleeing and ensure the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is adhered to by all state institutions. Unfortunately, children’s rights are still being violated, despite the agreement to comply with the convention." The organization aims to correct these inconsistencies by providing legal assistance and focusing on precedent-setting cases.

Moreover, it's crucial that we draw attention to these issues and educate the public and national officials about the rights of refugee children—especially when decisions are being made that contradict the convention. With over 60 children on their list, the organization is devoted to providing proper legal procedures, ensuring that each case is heard separately and treated with the importance it deserves, rather than being neglected as just "parents' luggage."

But how can you contribute? Just by participating in the art auction, you can support this vital cause. Along with the auction, you'll be treated to the live music of Ásgeir Trausti and Sigríður Thorlacius. Adding to the excitement, renowned artists such as Guðjón Ketilsson, Marit Trönqvist, Hallgrímur Helgason, Þrándur Þórarinsson, Tinna Þorvalds, Annadóttir, Baldur Helgason, Þorvaldur Jónsson, and Mireja Samper have donated their work for the event!

Don't miss out on this chance to make a lasting impact on refugee children's lives and have an unforgettable art-filled Saturday. Let's come together in support of those who need it most and celebrate their resilience and creativity!

Join us this Saturday to support refugee children at the art auction in Iðnó, where you can purchase both established and emerging artists' works. Engage with the refugee children's lifestyle and home-and-garden creations, as well as contemporary news about their rights and the support they need.
