Change of residence for Prince William and Duchess Kate: their new dwelling place revealed
Prince William and Princess Kate are set to move to a new residence within the grounds of Windsor Castle. The family, which includes their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, will be relocating from their current home, Adelaide Cottage, to a more spacious building called Forest Lodge.
Forest Lodge, a small castle with eight bedrooms, is a representative building within the Windsor Castle grounds. Historically, it was the home of King William IV's wife, Queen Adelaide, and later of Queen Adelaide herself. The couple's decision to move to Forest Lodge is driven by a desire for more space and a better quality of life, as Windsor offers a desirable balance of proximity to London and more green space.
The move to Forest Lodge is seen as a long-term decision, with the family intending to remain there even after William becomes King. This decision could potentially alter royal traditions related to Buckingham Palace, as it has been traditionally the monarch's residence. However, it is worth noting that Prince William and Kate have indicated they may not follow this tradition when William becomes King.
Adelaide Cottage, a four-bedroom residence, has been the family's home since 2022. Although not currently mentioned as their primary residence, Anmer Hall in Norfolk is another property they have used in the past.
The renovation of Forest Lodge, estimated to cost around 16 million pounds (18.5 million euros), is being paid for by Prince William and Princess Kate. This move does not affect the Wales family having other homes.

Living in Forest Lodge, the historic residence within Windsor Castle grounds, promises a change in lifestyle for the royal family. With more space and a better balance of city and nature, their new home is expected to offer a different home-and-garden experience compared to Adelaide Cottage. After the refurbishment, which is being funded by Prince William and Princess Kate, Forest Lodge is set to be their closed residence.
