Bateman Centre's new Appleby Line Library is now accessible, providing an exceptional experience for visitors.

The New Appleby Line branch of the Burlington Library system has officially opened, marking the culmination of a project that faced challenges throughout its development. The library, spanning 16,000 sq. ft., is the latest addition to the city's cultural landscape.

Upon entering the library, visitors are greeted by three daily newspapers available near the front doors. A small meeting room is situated a few feet away, providing a quiet space for discussions and collaborations. As for the library's history, Lita Barrie, who has served as the head of the library for six years, came to Burlington from Hamilton and has led a strong team as the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). However, the search results do not provide information about who succeeded her predecessor as CAO before she started in Burlington.

One of the library's most unique features is an 'aquarium' that utilizes technology to display children's drawings on a screen. This interactive exhibit is sure to be a hit with the young visitors. The library also boasts two fully equipped media rooms, perfect for those looking to delve deeper into their reading or research.

The first person to use a monitor at the new library remains unspecified, as does the identity of the first child to return books. James Dekens, Manager of Neighborhood Branches, greeted the first person to enter the library.

The library and the classrooms on the second level are the only parts of the Bateman Community Centre currently operating. The Tech Place section of the community centre is not yet complete. Despite this, the library is currently bare, but it will be used for gathering young children for storytelling sessions.

The project was initially proposed by Tom Commisso. Lita Barrie has played a significant role in its successful completion. The new library is set to be a valuable asset to the community, offering a welcoming and engaging environment for readers of all ages.

As of now, there is currently no mention of a coffee shop in the library or the community center. However, with its wide array of amenities and services, the New Appleby Line branch of the Burlington Library system is already making a positive impact. The article focuses on the library rather than the Bateman Community Centre, but as the project progresses, we look forward to seeing the development of the entire facility.
