Aschaffenburg Residents Invited to 'abpflastern' for Greener Urban Spaces

Aschaffenburg residents are invited to participate in the 'abpflastern' initiative, a nationwide competition aimed at de-sealing urban areas and promoting greener spaces. The project, brought to Gießen by the 'Haus der Nachhaltigkeit e.V.', encourages residents to transform sealed surfaces into green zones.

The initiative, running until October 31, 2025, allows participants to submit de-sealed areas through an online portal. Aschaffenburg has already made progress, with approximately 315 sqm de-sealed and transformed into a lawn with three trees and new benches. The city aims to improve the urban climate and enhance residents' quality of life.

Three winning municipalities and a 'Star of the Month' project will be honored throughout the year. The initiative's long-term goal is to create greener, more livable urban spaces nationwide.

Aschaffenburg's participation in 'abpflastern' is a step towards a greener future. Residents are encouraged to contribute by de-sealing areas and submitting their projects online. The city looks forward to potential recognition for its efforts in enhancing the urban environment.
